About the event
Every month we host our Dead Poets Salon. In the first half of the evening we hear about and from our dead poet of the month: think of it as half-way between a talk and a reading. We call the poet back to life with us for a while. Then we refresh our glasses and the open mic begins. We are open to all forms of performance though largely we hear from poets and the occasional singer - that could be you. If you are a poet please pop something in your back pocket for the second half.
Possibly the deadest of all our dead poets this month! The Epic of Gilgamesh has a good claim to be the oldest piece of poetry ever discovered at about 4,000 years old. It's a gripping epic tale and this evening we will be hearing that story both in precis and in excerpts.
